“Ona NIZM” is an intermedial performance experiment combining theatre, film and online streaming. Its protagonist is a twenty-four-year-old woman who has spent ten years immersed in the world of cosplay. Her online activity gradually becomes shaped by audience expectations and the mechanisms of internet popularity, pushing her towards increasingly radical transformations of her own image.

A smartphone, webcam, handycam and Kinect sensor create parallel images of the protagonist, bringing the aesthetics of social media and streaming into contact with the voyeuristic perspective of reality television. An important part of the performance is a live chat in which the audience can participate. “Ona NIZM” examines how communication technologies reshape the relationship between the person being watched and those watching, as well as the boundaries of privacy, control and the exploitation of one’s own image.
