In “AREYOUARE”, performer Silke Grabinger is surrounded by robots. Three robot vacuum cleaners, a kitchen robot and a robot dog interact not only with her, the only person on stage, but also with one another in unpredictable ways. As household work is carried out, the performance re-explores boundaries, recalling Carolee Schneemann’s “Up to and including her Limits” and Martha Rosler’s “Semiotics of the Kitchen”. In the tension between rear projections, hyperfeminism and hybridization, these boundaries are measured and exaggerated.
